The Celtics entered Tuesday with a chance to advance to the knockout stages of the NBA Cupbut they didn’t see the results they needed coming from the other playing fields. So instead they will have a pair of regular season games added to their 2024-25 schedule. The Celtics will host the Pistons for a game at 7:30 pm on Thursday, December 12 at TD Garden. They will then go on the road to face the Wizards on Sunday, December 15th at 6pm at Capital One Arena in Washington. The Celtics face the Pistons again this Wednesday, December 4th at home, so we’ll have some close games. The match against the Wizards will also be the third time in three months that the C’s will play a match in Washington after having played on the parquet of the Capitol One Arena on 24 October and 22 November (the day of the visit to the White House).
In the East quarterfinals, the No. 1 seed. 3 of the Hawks is at no. 2 of the Knicks while the no. 4 by the Magic is at no. 1 of the Bucks. In the West quarterfinals, the No. 4 are at no. 1 Thunder and the no. 3 Warriors at no. 2 Rockets. The winners of these games will go to Las Vegas for the NBA Cup semifinals and finals. All teams that did not make it to the knockout stage get two new matches added to their scheduleone at home and one away. It’s the first time the C’s haven’t made it to at least the quarterfinals of the in-season tournament. Last year, in the inaugural season of the Emirates NBA Cup, the C’s fell to the Pacers in the quarterfinals after winning their group.
