Tackle victim Trevor Lawrence may have his season over.

Tackle, fight, suspension: Football professional Azeez Al-Shaair has been suspended for three games by the NFL. The US league announced this on Tuesday. The 27-year-old linebacker tackled opposing quarterback Trevor Lawrence in his Houston Texans’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (23:20) on Sunday evening when he was about to end his play by sliding on the ground.

A mass brawl then broke out on the field between numerous players from both teams. Lawrence suffered a concussion and may be out for the season. Al-Shaair is missing from his team in the final stretch of the regular season.

Concussions are a sensitive issue in the NFL, and quarterbacks in particular are given increased protection by the rules. There is a detailed protocol for dealing with such injuries. The players have to go through this before they can play again.
