Recess time has come in the championship, but there remains a major match to play for Jérôme Séailles’ men, a Coupe d’Occitanie final. It will be this Saturday, December 14 (9 p.m.), in Salies-du-Salat, against Raphaël Pascual’s TOAC.

For the fourth consecutive year, Auch and TOAC find themselves in the final of the senior men’s Occitanie Cup. In 2021 and 2022, TOAC won against the Gersois, and notably had a memorable run in 2022 in the Coupe de France only to fail in the final in Paris. A French National 3 champion title was also acquired a few months later.

Last year, at L’Isle-Jourdain, Auch took their revenge, before reaching the quarter-finals of the national cup, with a narrow defeat against Rognonas.

Saturday evening, the two teams who know each other very well meet again after having crossed paths in the National 2 championship on October 5 at the Mathalin Hall. The Toulouse team then won, 75-88. They currently occupy sixth place in the championship. The ABC players, in difficulty at the start of the season, are tenth, three lengths behind.

Saturday, in Salies-du-Salat, the Debrie-Lannelongue duo in the lead will have a hard time facing Xavier Forcada Sanchez and Arnaud Bruzac, who make up one of the best back duos in this group C of Nationale 2, totaling 29 points on average between them. And under the circle, the presences of Thomas Séguéla, Yarod Silva and Ron Anderson Junior, among others, will also be real dangers for the ABC.

“Play it hard”

But the captain of the ABC, Jordan Debrie, remains very motivated: “Even diminished (absences of Maxime Coze and Louis Dezelus, Editor’s note), we are going to play hard and we are going to Salies to win. » “TOAC is a great, complete team in all positions, it’s up to us to play our game and restart to set our pace in the match. »

Auch will certainly make the trip with only eight players, but the Gersois have no complexes against TOAC, and will defend their skin dearly. Start of the duel, this Saturday, December 14, at 9 p.m., in Salies-du-Salat, to close a day of Occitanie finals, all categories combined.
