On January 5, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Raccoons will be hosting an open training session at the sports hall of the vocational school center in Stendal (schillerstrasse 4-6). This is a fantastic possibility for individuals of all ages and skill levels to explore the world of American football in a welcoming and supportive environment.As its establishment in late 2021, the Rathenow Raccoons have been steadily expanding, aiming to cultivate a vibrant American football community beyond Havelland. Oliver kizinski, the club’s marketing representative, emphasizes their commitment to inclusivity: “We’re actively seeking new members to join our growing ranks.”
The club offers a diverse range of programs,catering to different age groups and skill levels. Young athletes aged 8 and above can participate in flag football,a non-contact version of the game.For those aged 14 and older, there’s youth tackle football, where players learn the fundamentals of the game with proper safety measures in place. Adults aged 18 and above can join the men’s tackle football team,which competes in the 5th League East.
The men’s team, having secured its first-ever victory in the 2024 season and racking up extraordinary touchdowns, is eager to build on its success. “To ensure continued growth and triumph, we need fresh talent,” Kizinski explains.
No prior experience is required to participate in the open training session. “Whether you’re big or small, strong or fast, we’ll find the perfect position for you,” Kizinski assures potential recruits.
The tryout will feature engaging drills in tackling and ball-catching, allowing participants to experience the core elements of the game. Attendees are encouraged to wear pleasant sportswear and athletic shoes, bring a water bottle, and most importantly, arrive with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
