Angelique kerber: Thanks for having me! It’s great to be here.
You’ve had an incredible career, filled with unforgettable moments and triumphs. Saying goodbye to professional tennis this past summer must have been a bittersweet experience. How are you feeling now that you’ve had some time to settle into this new chapter?
Angelique Kerber: It’s definitely different, that’s for sure. I miss the competition, the adrenaline rush of being on the court. But becoming a mother has been the most incredible journey. It’s challenging, rewarding, and completely consuming in the best way possible.
While motherhood takes center stage, you’re still deeply connected to the world of tennis as the tournament ambassador for the Bad Homburg Open. Tell us, what excites you most about this charming tournament and its place within the tennis calendar?
Angelique Kerber: The Bad Homburg Open is truly special.It has such a unique atmosphere, very intimate and welcoming. The fans are fantastic, and the organization is top-notch. It’s a perfect blend of tradition and modern tennis, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
This holiday season must feel incredibly different now that you’re experiencing it through the eyes of a mother. What new traditions are you creating with your family?
Angelique Kerber: Oh, it’s magical! We’re creating our own little holiday rituals.Things like baking cookies, decorating the Christmas tree together, and reading holiday stories. It’s all about embracing the joy and wonder of the season through a child’s eyes.
We certainly know you love to stay active, but how has your fitness routine adapted to motherhood?
angelique Kerber: it’s definitely been an adjustment! Finding the time and energy to work out is a constant juggle.but I try to squeeze in some light workouts whenever I can, whether it’s a quick jog with the stroller or a home workout routine.
Looking ahead,what are your hopes and dreams for the future?
Angelique Kerber: My focus is entirely on my family right now.But I’m also excited to see where my journey within tennis takes me. Maybe I’ll get involved in coaching or mentoring young players someday, sharing the knowlege and experience I’ve gained throughout my career.
