This award confirms maestro Angelo Calvisi as the most successful “judoka” in the Olbia judo scene and in the whole of Gallura, which in the past has seen great names and unforgettable figures such as the masters Max Pastor, Gianni Perdomi, Salvatore Degortes, Michele Mariano, Giampaolo Spano , who did not go beyond the 3rd and 4th Dan.

Calvisi, 14 years ago, was the first 5′ dan master of the province, passing the exam with flying colors at the Olympic center of Ostia and creating a new record judo in terms of dan and qualifications.

The career of maestro Calvisi.

Angelo Calvisi’s judo career began in 1973 at just 8 years old in the “Judo Kwai Olbia” gym, which was located in a basement in Via Tavolara: originally directed by maestro Gianni Perdomi, and subsequently by maestro Salvatore Degortes. It is precisely with him that Calvisi, over the years, confirmed his judo passion, slowly becoming the pupil of maestro Degortes. The “Judo Kwai Olbia” club then became “Budokan Olbia”, and finally the current “Kan Judo Olbia“, but Calvisi, for twenty years, as an athlete, continues to give satisfaction to maestro Degortes.

The judoka from Olbia achieves numerous excellent results at regional and national level, with the various federations – Ciam, Filpj, Fijlkam -, he graduates Italian championtwice Italian vice champion, third place in the national Italian Cup, nine Sardinian champion titles, three times Sardinian vice champion, twice third on the podium. Fifth place in the third to last Guido Sieni trophy, over 90 placings on the podium in various regional, national and international trophies and competitions, some of which were achieved during his stay in military sports centeras a member of the army judo team during his military service, 1983-84.

A recognition that crowns the great commitment, the work, the sacrifices made in these 52 years of uninterrupted activity, first competitively in the 70s, 80s and 90s, then as a teacher. An activity that continues to give me truly great satisfaction with a truly exceptional team of athletes – children, teenagers, athletes”, concludes Calvisi.

Who, in addition to engaging in judo, cultivates a passion for music and radio: for over 40 years he has worked as a radio speaker in the historic Olbia broadcasters, including Radio Costa Smeralda, Stereo Quattro, Radio Internazionale.
