Cahors Archers Shine Shining at Souillac Winter Competition
The archery season has officially kicked off, and archers from Cahors are already making their mark.The first competitions in the Lot department took place in Souillac on November 1st and 2nd, drawing a strong contingent of 18 archers from the 1st Compagnie d’Arc de Cahors.
The event fostered a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship, welcoming both seasoned competitors and newcomers eager to represent their club. The results were promising, offering a glimpse into the dedication and skill of these archers as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
Eyes are already set on the Cahors competition scheduled for January 25th and 26th, with some archers aiming even higher, targeting the Regional Championships in February. Young archers will compete in Muret on February 8th and 9th, while adult archers will head to auch on February 15th and 16th.
Notable Performances Across All Categories
The Souillac competition saw impressive performances across all age groups. in the U13 category, Lylou Peyron and Raphaël Waeler secured the top spot, demonstrating extraordinary talent. Briséis Salmon achieved a commendable 4th place finish in the U15 category, while Assya Zazouli and Noa Miron closely followed in 5th place.
the U18 category witnessed a dominant display by Nina Jagueneau, who claimed the 1st place position. Léony Quehen followed closely behind, securing a strong 2nd place finish. Lilth Baffaly showcased her prowess in the U18 compound bow category, earning a well-deserved 1st place.
Adult archers also delivered outstanding results. In the Senior2 Classic Bow category, Nicolas Miron secured a respectable 4th place, while Loïc Arlot finished in 8th place. Eric D’Oliveira Rezende and Thérèse Droui showcased their skills in the Senior3 Classic Bow category, achieving 3rd and 4th place respectively.
The Senior1 Compound Bow category saw a remarkable performance by Nelly D’Oliveira Rezende and Thibault Besancon, who clinched the 2nd place position. Lucas Duprat followed closely behind, securing a commendable 3rd place finish. Kevin Baffaly demonstrated his prowess in the Senior2 Compound Bow category,earning a strong 2nd place finish,while Laurent Peyron finished in 6th place.
Sylviane reubens dominated the Senior Barebow category, claiming the top spot with a decisive victory.

Coach Durand: It’s a combination of factors. We have a dedicated group of archers who train tirelessly, and our coaching staff works closely with each individual to identify and address their specific needs. The camaraderie within the club is also crucial. the archers support and motivate each othre, creating a positive and encouraging environment.
Moderator: Looking ahead, the Cahors competition in January is rapidly approaching. What are your expectations for the team?
Coach Durand: We’re aiming high. I believe we have the potential to secure several podium finishes and potentially even claim a few titles. The competition will be fierce, but our archers are well-prepared and eager to prove themselves.
Moderator: The Regional Championships are also on the horizon. How do you see the Cahors archers performing at that level?
Coach Durand: The Regional Championships are a important step up in terms of competition. Though, I’m confident that our archers who qualify will rise to the challenge. We’ll be focusing on fine-tuning their technique and ensuring they’re mentally prepared to face tough opponents.
