The winner will be announced at NFL Honors prior to Super Bowl LIX
The NFL has announced the 32 nominees for the 11th annual Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. Each team features a player who has demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship.
Established in 2014, the award honors late Pittsburgh Steelers founder and owner Art Rooney Sr., who was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
„Sportsmanship is at the heart of the game, the foundation of our values, which are shared at all levels of sport,” said Troy Vincent, NFL vice president of football operations. “These Rooney Sportsmanship Award nominees will show the world how the game is played with respect and integrity at the highest level of competition.”
A panel of former NFL players from the Legends Community – including Warrick Dunn, Larry Fitzgerald (2014 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award winner), Curtis Martin and Leonard Wheeler – will select eight finalists from the 32 nominees. Four of them come from the AFC and four from the NFC. These finalists will then appear on the Pro Bowl ballot in the NFL Sportsmanship Award category, which players will vote on in December.
