ASVEL stops the incredible Paris Basketball series!

No one had beaten Paris in the Euroleague since October 17 (in Munich), ASVEL did it! Heroic including in the moneytime, Villeurbannais Théo Maledon (22 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 30 rating), Mbaye Ndiaye (19 points, 6 rebounds) and Nando De Colo (12 points, 4 assists) capsized the Astroballe by resisting the return of the Parisians until the end (98-93).

Despite an unstoppable TJ Shorts (29 points on 12/16 shots, 8 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 interceptions and 10 fouls caused for 41 ratings), Pierric Poupet’s collective showed enormous heart to keep its lead, acquired after an excellent first half (49-40).

All this is all the more flattering as ASVEL lost 17 balloons. But collectively she owes her success to her skill (21/29 from 2-point range and 23/27 from free throws), her 14 offensive rebounds and her 25 assists.

Paris still leader

Realize, it was therefore another French team, Villeurbanne, which put an end to the invincibility record of a French team in the Euroleague. “This victory means a lot! It’s a big collective success, everyone raised their level. We can be proud of ourselves. We weren’t afraid of them, we controlled the intensity of the match and believed in each other. It’s our sixth victory of the season in the Euroleague, it’s time to take one away”, commented Moneytime boss Théo Maledon, author of big shots at the end of the match and almost perfect on the line (10/11 on throws), at the microphone of Euroleague TV.

The magnificent Paris Basketball series ends at 10 winsbut the capital club remains the sole leader (11-4) ahead of… Monaco (10-5), tied for 2nd with Bayern Munich and Fenerbahçe.

As for ASVEL (6-9), it moves up to tied 13th place, just two wins from the top 8. With great confidence (4 victories in a row at home in C1), will it be able to open its European counter on the road in the bustling Stark Arena of Partizan Belgrade, next Tuesday?
