The final meet at the Zealand championships always takes place in Taastrup Sports Center and when the last finals are played on Monday evening, there are always extra highlights.
Badminton Sjælland chooses a Player of the Year in each year. This time the award for U13 player of the year went to August Muurholm from Værløse Badminton.
August complemented that title with gold in U13 men’s singles and silver medal in men’s doubles.
Værløse Badminton has an exceptionally strong U13 cohort. August won the singles final over clubmate Tristan Norup Benedictus. In the men’s doubles, the roles were reversed. Tristan won together with Gustav Bech Rasmussen over August, who had Max Roswall Dekkerhus as his partner. All four boys play in Værløse Badminton.
VB also dominates on the girls’ side. Maja Toftgaard won the women’s singles final over Thea Molander Kragh. The two VB girls jointly won the women’s doubles gold.
Tristan and Maja also took the gold in mixed doubles with a final victory over Thea and Max.
In the other years, the VBs were also involved. Clara Amalie Hegelund Bruun took gold in U15 E women’s doubles and bronze in singles.
Magnus Tjagvad and Zakarias Elmqvist came second in U15 M men’s doubles.
In U17 E, Astrid Kruse was in three finals. It resulted in gold in mixed with Mikkel Eilersen Bouet and in women’s doubles with Eline Landsvig, both from VB, and then a silver medal in women’s singles.
And then there was silver for Esben Jannes Jacobsen and Gustav Nøhr in U19 E men’s doubles and two gold medals for Oskar Bengtsson in U18 M men’s doubles and mixed doubles.
