Chloé Paquet and Lucas Pouille will benefit from an invitation to the main draw of the Australian Open tennis tournament (January 12-26). They will therefore be directly in the first round, without having to go through qualifying. The two Frenchmen are not making their first appearance in the Australian tournament. Chloé Paquet will participate in the final draw of the Australian Open for the second times in his career. The 30-year-old player distinguished herself this season by reaching the third round of Roland-Garros.
She also managed to reach, this year, the semi-final of the Iasi tournament (WTA 250) and the final of the Saint-Malo Open (WTA 125). These good results allowed her to enter the Top 100 and achieve her best WTA ranking on August 5 (96th).
For Lucas Pouille, this will be the eighth time in his career that he has reached the main draw of the Australian Open. In 2019, he achieved his best Grand Slam performance in Melbourne by reaching the semi-finals.
329th in the ATP rankings at the start of 2024, he now occupies 101st place in the world. He distinguished himself this season by reaching the third round of Wimbledon, winning the Mauthausen and Mouilleron-le-Captif Challengers and reaching three other Challenger finals.
They both benefit from an invitation as part of a reciprocal agreement which links the French Tennis Federation and Tennis Australia (Australian Tennis Federation) and envisages an exchange of wild cards between Roland-Garros and the Open from Australia.
