Danish badminton star Viktor Axelsen misses the season finale in Chinese Hangzhou due to an injury.

He writes this on the social platform X.

– Unfortunately, I am unable to compete in the World Tour’s season finale in December.

– I suffer from an injury in my foot, which causes me a lot of problems, and I have been advised to get it under control immediately so as not to have long-term problems, writes Viktor Axelsen.

He was last in action on November 23, when he lost to Anders Antonsen in the semi-finals of the China Masters.

He had set his sights on ending the season with a tournament win.

– I am very sad that I cannot play the season finale. I’ve won the tournament five times and it’s one of my favorite tournaments, so it’s a tough pill to swallow.

– My priority is that I have to be at 100 percent before I have to compete again, writes Axelsen.

Fynboen has won two World Tour tournaments this year. In August, he also became Olympic champion for the second time in his career.

The season finale takes place in the period 11-15 December.

Denmark will still be represented in the men’s singles, where Anders Antonsen will participate. In the context of the World Tour, he is the season’s most successful men’s singles, together with the Chinese Shi Yuqi – both are listed for four tournament victories this year.

There is also Danish participation in men’s doubles, where Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen will be on the hunt for prestige and big cash prizes.
