Young Stars on the rise: An Interview wiht Badminton Coach Jan krüger
Welcome back, sports fans! Today, we’re joined by Jan Krüger, youth coordinator and coach for the BV Hungen badminton club. Jan, thanks for joining us today!
Jan: It’s a pleasure too be here.
I’d like to start by congratulating the BV Hungen squad on their fantastic performances at the recent Hessen Youth Badminton Championships. It looks like the club is bringing up some real talent! What are your thoughts on the results?
jan: I’m incredibly proud of all our young athletes. They trained hard and showed dedication on the court, which really paid off in these tournaments. The results are a testament to their hard work and the strength of our youth program.
Absolutely! We saw some standout performances, like Mia Krüger’s impressive second-place finish in the U9 girls’ competition. That’s a huge accomplishment for such a young player. What do you think sparked her success?
Jan: Mia is truly a natural talent! She’s got an amazing work ethic and a deep passion for the sport. But it’s not just about natural ability; she’s also a quick learner and takes coaching on board exceptionally well.
What about Finn Beyer? He battled his way to the semi-finals before securing a bronze in the U11 category. What impressed you most about his performance?
Jan: Finn’s resilience shines through.Even when facing a tough opponent like the eventual tournament winner from darmstadt, he didn’t give up.He fought back with incredible determination and secured a well-deserved podium finish. That mental fortitude is just as valuable as physical skills at this level.
The BV Hungen stumbled a bit with the U13 doubles team narrowly missing a podium finish, coming in fourth. Are there any learnings from that you’re taking away?
Jan: Coaching doubles requires a different dynamic, and it’s clear we still have some room for improvement in coordination and strategic play. We’ll be analyzing their game closely and working on sharpening their teamwork and communication on the court.
Looking ahead, what are your goals for the BV Hungen youth badminton program?
Jan: Our goal is to nurture well-rounded athletes – technically sound, strategically astute, and mentally strong.
We want to see more of our players competing at higher levels, but just as importantly, we want to foster their love for badminton and sportsmanship, while building their confidence and teamwork skills.
That’s admirable! Any last words for aspiring young badminton players out there?
Jan: Don’t be afraid to step onto the court! Badminton is an exciting and rewarding sport. Persevere, embrace the challenges, and most importantly, have fun.
