Popovich suffered a mild stroke in November. “This has certainly been an unexpected six weeks for my family and I,” said the NBA coach, who also thanked everyone for their overwhelming help and support.

Popovich has coached the Spurs since 1996, making him the NBA record holder for longest tenure with just one club. During this time he won a total of five NBA titles with the club. He also led the USA national team to gold at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. For his achievements he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
