Defeated for the second time this season on its home court on Saturday, Amiens Sporting Club Basket-Ball was unable to capitalize on its victory during the last meeting against Longuenesse. A setback which leaves a bitter taste for his trainer, Stéphane Noé.
For two quarters, the ASCBB was on par with Croix, 3rd in the standings, even leading by a point after 20 minutes of play. But Stéphane Noé’s men missed out in their third quarter, conceding a terrible 10-24. “We had a blast. And once we have a breakdown, we are no longer able to stay in the tempo of the match.” lamented the Amiens coach. And even if the locals rebalanced the debates in the last ten minutes, they were not able to completely turn the match around in their favor: “we tended to play at the level of the opposing team. When they are a little below us, we let them come back and when they are above us, we take a shine and we can’t get over the hump. » At the start of the match, it’s true, the ASCBB was at +3 with the possibility of going to +5 or +6 “and we don’t shoot. That’s a bit of our concern.” added Stéphane Noé.
The shooting success of his players is one of the dark points of this meeting for the latter: “We cannot afford for our leaders not to score. At some point, if they are no longer there offensively, it becomes difficult. They (Croix) don’t score a lot of points except that we don’t score a shot. I feel like we could have played for hours, that’s how it was.« The ASCBB coach also regretted his team’s lack of presence on offensive but especially defensive rebounds: “They ate us on the defensive rebound. It’s easier to make baskets when you can shoot four times.«
The Amiens technician, however, conceded the physical superiority of the opposing team: “It’s a great team, they play hard. We’re not used to that, we’re a little too nice. We miss Clavel in intensity, in energy. Our players are young, they lack impact. » On the contrary, “every time he (the opposing coach) rotates, he brings in a physical player. » The ASCBB therefore does not continue and finds itself 9th in the group with ten points on the clock. What if Stéphane Noé was disappointed that his players bowed in front of their audience because “it was a match that had to be taken” he wants to be fatalistic about the place of his team at the end of the season: “This team (Croix) is going to be at the top of the rankings. Not us. »
