3-0 against Hoffenheim: Wolfsburg reaches the cup quarter-finals
For a long time, nothing spectacular happened in the duel between Bundesliga clubs Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim – until national goalkeeper Oliver Baumann made a mistake. TSG will never recover from this.
VfL Wolfsburg has reached the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup. The Lower Saxony team prevailed 3-0 (0-0) in the Bundesliga duel with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. With the first goal by Denis Vavro (63′), VfL benefited from a mistake by national goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, who let the ball slip through his hands. The other goals were scored by Jonas Wind (67th) and Yannick Gerhardt (85th).
VfL is now unbeaten in seven games, including the cup and Bundesliga, and knocked their second first division rival after Borussia Dortmund out of the competition. The Wolves still need two wins to reach the cup final for the third time after 1995 (0:3 against Borussia Mönchengladbach) and 2015 (3:1 against Borussia Dortmund).
