Manuel Neuer I would certainly like to be the old Manuel Neuer. But he can’t do it like he used to, and that becomes more obvious every month. On Tuesday it was just the 17th minute when Neuer did what a goalkeeper is not allowed to do under any circumstances: he hesitated. Even worse, he first came out of his penalty area after a long ball towards his goal, then he changed his mind and wanted to go back, only to ultimately decide to run out again. Every goalkeeper knows that once you decide to run out, you have to stick with it. Otherwise you end up in no man’s land where there is nothing to hold on to.
