The Bayamón Cowboys have ushered in a new era with the appointment of Eric Duars and carlos Arroyo as their representatives in the National Superior Basketball (BSN). This dynamic duo wasted no time making their mark, acquiring forward Jordan Cintrón and a second-round pick in the 2026 New Entry Draft from the Mayagüez Indians in a strategic trade.
In exchange, the Indians received Josué Erazo and Luis Cuascut. Erazo, recently transferred to Bayamón from Atlético de San Germán, never suited up for the Cowboys. Simultaneously occurring, Cuascut has been focused on his commitments with the National 3×3 basketball team as 2022.
Cintrón, known for his defensive prowess, averaged an impressive 8.8 points,5.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game last season with the Indians. This acquisition bolsters the Cowboys’ roster significantly.
The Cowboys’ off-season moves didn’t stop there. They also unveiled a revamped coaching staff led by Christian Dalmau, formerly the Indians’ manager. Adding to the excitement, veteran shooting guard Javier Mojica signed a one-year contract extension, demonstrating the team’s commitment to experience and leadership.
With these strategic changes, the Cowboys are poised for a triumphant campaign when the BSN season tips off on March 15, 2025. The team’s new leadership and roster additions have generated significant buzz among fans, who are eagerly anticipating a thrilling season.
The Bayamón Cowboys: A New era Dawns
Welcome back, hoops fans, to another edition of “On the Court”! Today we have a very special guest, former BSN player and current analyst, Angel Santiago, here to break down the exciting off-season moves by the Bayamón Cowboys.
Angel, thanks for joining us.
Angel: Thanks for having me!
Moderator: Let’s start with the biggest move – the acquisition of Jordan Cintrón.He’s known for his strong defense and solid all-around play. How importent is this addition for the Cowboys?
Angel: This is a massive get for Bayamón. Cintrón brings a defensive tenacity that was missing last season. He’s not afraid to get physical and lock down opposing players, something crucial in the high-intensity BSN.
Plus, his 8.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season reflect a player who can contribute on both ends of the court. I think he’s going to be a real game-changer for them.
Moderator: Absolutely. And the Cowboys didn’t stop there. They also brought in Eric Duars and Carlos Arroyo to lead the front office. How do you see this new leadership duo impacting the team’s direction?
Angel: I think it’s a move signaling seriousness and ambition. Duars and Arroyo are both respected figures in Puerto Rican basketball, with proven track records of success. They bring a wealth of experience and basketball IQ to the table, which will be invaluable for the cowboys.
Moderator: What are your thoughts on the coaching staff changes with Christian Dalmau taking the helm?
Angel: Dalmau is a young, hungry coach with a lot of potential. He’s shown promise with the Mayagüez Indians, and I think this is a great possibility for him to prove himself. the Cowboys are giving him a chance to build something special.
Moderator:
The Cowboys clearly meant business this off-season. They also re-signed veteran Javier Mojica. He brings experience and leadership to a young core.
angel: Mojica’s leadership is invaluable. He’s a true professional who knows how to win. Having a veteran presence like him on the court will help guide the younger players and provide stability. Adding a scoring threat like Mojica makes this team even more dangerous.
Moderator: Angel, do you agree that the Cowboys set themselves face of the BSN for the upcoming season?
Angel: They’ve certainly put themselves in a strong position. They’ve addressed key weaknesses and fortified their strengths. It’ll be interesting to see how all these pieces come together on the court. My prediction: They’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
