Catamarca Celebrates its Sporting elite at Annual Awards Ceremony
The Catamarca Fairgrounds buzzed with excitement as the Circle of sports Journalists of Catamarca (CPDC) hosted its annual awards ceremony, recognizing the province’s top athletic achievements. Over 500 attendees witnessed the celebration,which honored athletes across a diverse range of disciplines.
This year’s ceremony marked a historic moment, with boxer Nazarena “Capricho” Romero and shooter Julián Gutiérrez sharing the prestigious title of Athlete of the Year. This shared recognition highlights the exceptional talent and dedication displayed by both athletes in their respective fields.
The evening was filled with accolades, recognizing not only individual achievements but also the collective spirit of Catamarca’s sporting community.Dr. María Sylvia Jiménez was honored as Leader of the Year, while Volleyball secured the Discipline of the Year award for the second consecutive year, demonstrating its continued dominance in the province.
Rising star Valentina corpacci (BMX) was named Newcomer of the Year,showcasing the shining future of Catamarca’s sporting landscape.Santiago Stefani (Chess) received the esteemed Olimpia lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to his enduring contribution to the world of chess.
The ceremony also acknowledged important sporting events, with the Federal A Final being named Distinguished Event of the Year.Guillermo Perna, Secretary of Sports, and businessman Fernando jalil were recognized with the FAPED award for their contributions to the advancement of sports in Catamarca.
Catamarca RTV ensured that the entire province could share in the celebration, broadcasting the event live on television and social media platforms.
