On Tuesday, November 26, the Salle de la Garenne, in Charleroi, welcomed a distinguished guest from Basketball: Enes Kanter Freedom, renowned NBA basketball player, but also a figure committed to human rights. A look back at an event that left its mark and inspired young basketball players in the region.
An NBA legend in Charleroi
Enes Kanter Freedom, who has more than 750 games in the NBA with prestigious teams such as Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers and Boston Celtics, was the guest of honor at a free initiation organized by Fedactio Hainautin partnership with the Sports Council of the City of Charleroi. The initiative, led by Mr. Karim Chaïbaï, aimed to promote basketball and bring together enthusiasts around an exceptional athlete.
From 6:30 p.m., the room was buzzing. Enes Kanter Freedom, wearing a Red Devils jersey for the occasion, was welcomed by around a hundred young basketball players and their families. Some of them came dressed in their finest NBA gear, eliciting a warm smile from the 2.08m player as soon as he entered the court.
A unique workout
For 1h30, Enes Kanter Freedom shared his experience and love of basketball with the participants. Games, technical exercises and discussions punctuated this session, where we could feel the enthusiasm and passion in every corner of the room.
Always accessible and jovial, Enes did not hesitate to joke with the young players, speaking in English. To facilitate communication, a facilitator was present to translate his words, allowing everyone to fully benefit from the advice provided by this great name in basketball.
An evening dedicated to conviviality
The friendly atmosphere and generosity of Enes Kanter Freedom left an impression. After training, the player took the time to pose with each participant, offering photos and signings to anyone who wanted them. Despite his imposing stature and impressive track record, Enes remained approachable, showing great humility throughout the evening.
Thanks to our partners and the artist behind the lens
This event would not have been possible without the support of the organizers and the passion of the young participants. Many thanks also to Frédéric S ([email protected]) for his exceptional photos that capture the essence of this unforgettable evening.
We invite you to discover the photos and relive the highlights of this unique meeting, which will remain engraved in the memories of Charleroi basketball players.
