Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur won their respective matches this Sunday against Brentford and Southampton as part of the sixteenth round of the English Premier League, which will close on Monday with the match between Bournemouth and West Ham.

The blues won 2-1 at home at Stamford Bridge after a clash that cost them more than necessary. Enzo Maresca’s men started winning with a goal from Marc Cucurella at the end of the first half, and only at 80′ through Nicolas Jackson did they finish the game, despite Bryan Mbeumo’s discount at 90′.

For their part, the Spurs, without Rodrigo Bentancur due to his suspension, won in the opposite way: widely 5-0 as visitors thanks to the goals of James Maddison (in duplicate), Heung min-Son, Dejan Kulusevski and Pape Matar Sarr.

Chelsea reached 34 points in the tournament standings and continues to lead Liverpool, which with one game less has 36 points and is the leader. Tottenham, meanwhile, is tenth with 23.
