Patrick Mahomes is back in the playoffs

With a hard-fought victory, the Kansas City Chiefs became the first American football team in the US professional league NFL to secure a play-off ticket. The team around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes scored a narrow 19:17 against the Las Vegas Raiders. The victory was only secured by a mistake by the Raiders, who brought the ball into play too early with seconds left and subsequently lost to the defending champions from Kansas City.
The Chiefs had been leading 16-3 in the third quarter and suddenly found themselves behind 16-17 at the start of the final quarter. A field goal from kicker Matthew Wright put the Chiefs back in the lead, which was ultimately enough for their eleventh win in the twelfth game of the season. The Chiefs are mathematically guaranteed to take part in the play-offs. The team wants to be the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row.
