The Medical Commission and Anti-Doping Unit presents its Medical and Anti-Doping Report of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Fútbol Playa 2024, which took place in the city of Luque – Paraguay, from December 1 to 8, 2024, with the participation of 12 clubs belonging to the Associations Member of CONMEBOL.
The purpose of this report is to present a summary of the injuries suffered by athletes during the competition, a monitoring of the temperature at the tournament venue, the educational talks carried out with all participating teams and the anti-doping controls.
In the CONMEBOL Libertadores Beach Soccer 2024, a total of 5 injuries were recorded, suffered by athletes in the 32 matches played, of which two sprains, a contusion, a wound and a muscle injury stand out. No serious injuries were recorded.
In addition, temperature monitoring was carried out at the competition headquarters before and after to protect the integrity of the soccer players. The hydration break was also carried out according to established protocol.
For its part, the Anti-Doping Unit carried out anti-doping educational talks with the 12 clubs that competed in the tournament, totaling 216 people including players and the teams’ coaching staff.
A total of 108 urine samples were collected during the competition, in order to carry out the corresponding controls in all the matches played, of which 55.5% were controls by draw and 44.5% were directed.
The medical team was made up of Dr. Jorge Deleón (PAR) as Medical Coordinator, and Dr. Pedro Bronzini (ARG) and Dr. Jonatan de la Zerda (BOL) as Medical Officers.
