Ecuador will face its counterpart from Uruguay at the Salinas Golf & Tennis Club (hard court) for the playoffs of Davis Cup World Group 1, on February 1 and 2, 2025.
The winning nation of the playoffs of World Group 1 will play the World Group 1 eliminator in September 2025. While the losing nation will play a World Group 2 eliminator.
The 2025 World Group 1 qualifiers will take place on September 13-14 or 14-15, with the winning country competing in the 2026 Davis Cup Qualifiers.
Ecuador and Uruguay have faced each other seven times in the history of the Davis Cup, with four victories for the Uruguayans and three for the tricolors.
The first occasion of this confrontation was with a victory of the Ecuadorian team at home in 1973 with a score of 5-0. In 1976, as a visitor, they won 3-2.
Uruguay won in 1977 (home) and 1981 (away) by a score of 3-2. In 1989, at home, the Uruguayans won 3-0.
In 1996, Ecuador achieved its third series after defeating 4-1 at the Guayaquil Tenis Club. In 2007, the CharrĂșas obtained their last victory with a score of 5-0 at the Cantegril Country Club in Punta del Este. (D)
