On Saturday, December 7, another derby was scheduled for Gorssel. This time Almen came to visit sports practice Gerstlo. Gorssel wasted no time and decided the game in the first half. The men in black and yellow won 4-0.
Both the 1e if it is 2e team had to play against the SV from Almen. This created a friendly and fun atmosphere at the sports park. Gorssel started the match strongly, just like the weeks before. There was a clear plan on how to play the opponent.
After just 6 minutes of football it was a hit. Bram Bötzel managed to work the ball into the top right corner with a clever volley. Almen alternates the game with long balls and sometimes with short balls through the axis. The latter goes wrong after 16 minutes of play. It is Luuk Kersten who applies good pressure and wins the ball. He keeps a good overview and gives Stijn Obdeijn an opportunity not to be missed. The striker finishes in a controlled manner for the 2-0.
While everyone joined hands for the beautiful 1-0, they clapped even louder for the 3e van Gorssel. After a good build-up, it is Koen Kersten who is released. He delivers a perfect cross to the approaching Timo Bobbink. This header also ends up in the top right corner. A textbook attack.
Before half time the score was 4-0. Stijn Obdeijn is clumsily knocked over in the box and the referee gives a penalty. This is shot in a businesslike manner. The break comes at a good time for both parties. A downpour leaves everyone soaked. Taking some time to dry is therefore not an unnecessary luxury.
The level achieved in the first half is difficult to maintain for 90 minutes. Almen goes the extra mile. They increase the pressure a little and try to pin Gorssel down. This does not pose any immediate danger or opportunities for Almen.
This is the case in minute 58. Gorssel loses the ball in the last line. To compensate for this, a foul is committed in the sixteen meters in the eyes of the referee. The opportunity for Almen to find something of a connection. Ultimately this doesn’t happen. The ball is shot hard onto the crossbar. So hard that the ball ends up outside the box again and no real rebound is created. Gorssel will do well here.
The match continues a bit after this, some chances are created, but there is no real sharpness. This can also be seen just before time. Gorssel gets another penalty after holding Bram. Where normally Stijn Obdeijn remains businesslike and cool, here he is too easy-going. He misses in a silly way. This moment reminds one of the RKC – Feyenoord match. Santiago Giménez missed there in exactly the same way. He pinned the ball over the goal.
Not many minutes later the referee blows the whistle. Gorssel certainly achieved an excellent level in the first half, which means they deservedly won. We can now look forward to next week. The last match before the winter break awaits there. The catch-up game against number 4 SV Harfsen. This promises to be a fun competition. The difference between the two teams is only 1 point.
