Duel between Bayern and Leverkusen: How to watch the DFB Cup on free TV
The top game will take place in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup: Bayern Munich against Bayer Leverkusen. The duel between the record winner and the Cup defender is running live on free TV.
Bayern Munich will face Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Cup round of 16. That also means: record winners against cup defenders, Musiala against Wirtz, Kompany against Alonso. The top game outshines the other matches in this round. The Munich team have not made it past the quarter-finals since their cup victory in 2020 – back in the final against Leverkusen. This time Bayern’s path to Berlin should continue, even without the currently injured striker Harry Kane.
In addition to Bayern against Bayer, there are two other duels between Bundesliga clubs: On Wednesday, Wolfsburg will play against Hoffenheim and Leipzig will play against Frankfurt. Almost half of the first division teams have already been eliminated, Freiburg, Stuttgart, Bremen and Augsburg are still there from the Bundesliga. Bielefeld is the only third division team in the race and will host Freiburg on Tuesday evening.

The pay channel Sky shows all matches in the DFB Cup live as individual games and in the conference. The top games can also be seen on free TV: Bayern against Bayer on ARD and the next day Leipzig against Frankfurt on ZDF. The second also broadcasts the duel between the traditional clubs and current second division team 1. FC Köln against Hertha BSC on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

What happens next after the round of 16 in the cup?
By moving into the round of the best 16, the clubs have already earned almost one and a half million euros each. Progressing to the quarter-finals brings another 1.7 million euros – especially for small teams, this is an economic incentive in addition to the sporting prestige.
The eight teams that overwinter in the cup will then be in the quarter-finals in February. Then there will be no more parallel games: the first two duels will take place on February 4th and 5th, the other two on February 25th and 26th. The semi-finals are scheduled for April 1st and 2nd, the cup final in Berlin on May 24th.
