Ravens suspend Diontae Johnson (WR) for a match. He will therefore miss the game against the Giants after Baltimore’s bye week. The reason given for the suspension? Conduct detrimental to the team. The official announcement (reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN) general manager Eric DeCosta even explains that Diontae Johnson would have refused to come into play in the defeat against the Eagles.
On Monday, John Harbaugh (HC) refused to go into detail about Diontae Johnson’s lack of involvement in the team’s play. Obviously, the problem does not come (only) from the Ravens staff. Since arriving from Carolina on October 29, he has played only 39 snaps in four matches. If Baltimore certainly did not count on him to revolutionize the attack of Lamar Jackson (QB) from top to bottom, Diontae Johnson nevertheless presents interesting qualities. His 30 receptions for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns with the Panthers are proof that Diontae Johnson can still contribute in the NFL. And with a Ravens team which, although threatening, is not the super favorite in the AFC, such a contribution would be far from negligible.
It remains to be seen whether the exchange is a failure from A to Z or if Diontae Johnson and the Ravens manage to get on the same page in time for the playoffs which, although close, are not yet guaranteed for Baltimoree.
