As easily as Lazio won in the Europa League against Ajax (1-3) on Thursday, the Italians had it just as difficult on Monday evening in the Serie A against Internazionale. Lazio lost at home for the first time this season in Stadio Olimpico. It was also the biggest home defeat in the 125-year club history: 0-6.
Dutch right back Denzel Dumfries had a leading role in the theater in Rome. The penalty he caused for the 0-1 was important, his assist for the 0-2 was precise and his own header for the 0-4 was impressive.
Inter remains third with one game less played than leaders Atalanta, which has three points more. Lazio remains in fifth place, three points behind Inter.

The Romans and traveling Milanese were faced with a duel full of punches, rolling players, hand gestures and shouting from Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. Drama that you would expect from an Italian top match.
The Lazio fans themselves also participated by cheering and whistling every time the ball came near Stefan de Vrij. The Romans have not yet forgotten that the Dutch international left Lazio for Inter in 2018 after four seasons.

While one Dutch international was whistled at, Dumfries took his team by the hand. After an impressive jump, a header from the Dutch right back ended up on a Lazio hand after forty minutes, after which Hakan Çalhanoğlu converted the penalty.
Less than five minutes later, Dumfries was also involved in the 0-2 score just before half-time with an assist. He carefully placed the ball at the far post for a volley from Federico Dimarco.
Powerful headed goal
Lazio did not seem to have recovered from that blow after the break, as the 0-3 and 0-4 fell quickly in the second half. Nicolo Barella beautifully fired a ball into the top corner and two minutes later Dumfries delivered the physical highlight of the evening.
Just like with the penalty for the 0-1, the Dutchman jumped spectacularly high, hung in the air for a moment and hit the ball with a hard header.

Even De Vrij’s whistle stopped after Dumfries’ mighty headed goal. The Lazio fans no longer saw any point in cheering for the man who played flawlessly and had the Dutch Lazio striker Tijjani Noslin in his pocket.
The humiliation was complete when Carlos Augusto scored the fifth fifteen minutes before the end and Thuram also shot the sixth into the corner in injury time. An evening for Lazio to quickly forget, an evening for Dumfries to remember for a long time.
