Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove, who suffered an epileptic seizure and cardiac arrest, may no longer appear on the field.
An episode that almost led to death occurred in a match against Inter. It was stopped in the 17th minute when the Violets midfielder collapsed on the turf. He received medical assistance almost immediately, and a worse outcome was avoided.
However, there is no talk of returning to performances yet. Moreover, there is a high probability that the 22-year-old player will have to give up football altogether.
“Championship” writes about this with reference to the Italian publication La Nazione:
“At the moment he has been transferred from the intensive care unit to the cardiology department. The cycle of tests to establish a definite diagnosis continues. It is reported that if tests confirmed that the cardiac arrest was a manifestation of an underlying cardiac pathology, it would expose the athlete to potential relapses over time, which would therefore require the implantation of a defibrillator for secondary prevention. According to the Italian national guidelines for sports medicine and cardiology, athletes with a defibrillator are not suitable for participation in competitive sports activities.
