Two days after the conclusion of the DM U15/U17 in Bonn-Beuel, everyday life for the helpers and organizers is already back to normal. Ultimately, everyone volunteers and goes back to their actual job as civil servants, scientists, craftsmen or students.
However, the DM is still very present in people’s minds; after all, it’s not every day that you have Germany’s very best youth players in the hall. The mixed disciplines started on Friday and the first round of singles was played in the evening. On Saturday the men’s and women’s doubles were added. It got pretty tight in the Erwin Kranz Hall, so it’s not a bad thing that the U19 age group, which was originally planned to be at the same time, can be guests in Gera next week.
The final day was reserved for the semi-finals and finals. The event was framed by a really good run-in by all athletes, for which co-director Christof Rieck had specially composed the music and implemented it with an AI voice and instrumentation.
There were hardly any surprises in the results. Especially among the U17s, the favorites, Lisa Paula Bonnemann, Kalliope Hermel, Fynn Ohliger and Leon Kaschura, were on the winner’s podium several times. And among the U15s, the players ranked first also won four out of five disciplines. Only Alexia Nedelcu was even better than her seeding: After the top seeded Charlotte Wendt was unable to compete, the Wolfensteiner won a place in the final in a thrilling semi-final and then also the championship in the girls’ singles U15.
