Federal city honors championship of the Bonn Capitals in the Old Town Hall

Mayor Katja Dörner welcomed the women’s softball team and the men’s baseball team of the Bonn Capitals to the Old Town Hall on Friday, December 13, 2024. The teams have signed the guest book of the federal city of Bonn for their sporting successes in 2024.

At the reception in the Old Town Hall, to which Mayor Katja Dörner (front, 4th from right) had invited, the Capitals women’s and men’s teams signed the city of Bonn’s guest book.

The Bonn Capitals women’s softball team won the runner-up championship and the German Cup in 2024. The men’s team became German baseball champions for the third time in the club’s history.

Mayor Dörner praised the club’s work: “I would like to warmly congratulate you on these outstanding achievements, which show the high level of the Bonn Capitals. In 35 years, the club has not only shaped the history of baseball in Bonn, but has also become one of the most important addresses for baseball and softball in Germany.”

Mirko Heid, first chairman of the Capitals: “It is a great honor for us to be entered in the guest book of the city of Bonn. This not only recognizes our sporting success, but also shows our roots and close connection with the city of Bonn.”

Bonn is an important location for Germany and Europe

With almost 500 members and 16 teams in different age and ability classes, the Bonn Capitals are now one of the largest baseball and softball clubs in Europe. The club will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2024.
