Piedmont Regional Committee of the Italian Baseball Softball Federation donated a supply of Baseball5 balls to the children of the Cuban town of Sancti Spíritus, a purely symbolic but significant gesture, which tends to support young baseball enthusiasts in a land where this sport is much more of a game, but it is part of national culture and identity.
The island of Cuba is facing a difficult political and economic-financial situation, which profoundly affects the social fabric, also making access to essential sports materials complicated. However, the spirit of resilience and passion for baseball continue to inspire young Cubans, who never stop dreaming and fighting.
The donation was made on the directives of Sabrina Olivero, in the period before her resignation as president of CR Piemonte and election to the position of federal councilor, who was keen to remember: “This donation is a small sign of our closeness to a nation that has given so much to baseball and is currently experiencing a crisis that is putting the new generations to the test.”
He adds: “We hope that these balls can bring a smile and help keep alive the sporting spirit and hope of these kids, more determined than ever despite adversity.”
Olivero concludes: “Baseball, which is a true tradition for Cuba, represents a cultural bridge between our lands. With this gesture, Piedmont reaffirms its commitment to a global community united by the values of sport: inclusion, solidarity and sharing.”
For the success of the donation, we would like to thank:
