The international football federation FIFA has decided on the organizers of the two upcoming World Cups. The 2030 World Cup will be hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
The opening three matches will be played in South America, namely in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the first championship, which was held in Uruguay in 1930.
In 2034, the World Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia, which was the only candidate to host this tournament, just as only the joint candidacy of Spain, Portugal and Morocco sought to host in 2030.
The congress was held online and FAČR was represented by FAČR chairman Petr Fousek and general secretary Martin Procházka.
Both candidatures have gained confidence thanks to their modern football infrastructure and conditions. Organizing the World Cup is becoming more and more difficult, because from 2026 the tournament will be organized for 48 teams.
“For us, Spain, Portugal and Morocco are great destinations, in Europe, so close to our fans and traditionally strong in terms of sport. As for Saudi Arabia, their stadiums and facilities will be of a high standard and I am sure they will be able to put on a world-class top tournament. But the most important thing for Czech football is that our national team makes it to the World Cup,” said FAČR chairman Petr Fousek.
