On the occasion of Human Rights Day on December 10th, the Green Parliament Club invites you to a film screening of the Iranian-Israeli feature film TATAMI followed by a discussion in the Austrian Parliament on Monday, December 9th at 5 p.m.
TATAMI – the first feature film made in Iranian-Israeli collaboration with Guy Nattiv and Zar Amir as co-directors – tells the story of Leila, a young Iranian judoka who is faced with a momentous decision at the Judo World Championships in Tbilisi is provided. Between the pressure of the Iranian regime and her dream of making history, Leila’s fate represents the tension between sport, politics and human rights.
In the subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Agnes Prammer, sports spokeswoman for the Green Party, top athlete Saman Soltani, who fled Iran, Judo Austria President Martin Poiger, Bini Guttmann, member of the World Jewish Congress, and Sports and Culture Minister Werner Kogler discuss how authoritarian regimes influence top international sport, how cultural platforms can promote long-term positive connections and what ways there are to strengthen athletes and protect their rights.
Media representatives are cordially invited. Please note that photo ID and registration are required to enter Parliament at the following link: https://www.parlament.gv.at/services/zutritt/anmeldung/index.html
