The dominance of the Norwegians simply continues. The German biathletes, on the other hand, have big problems in the first individual race of the season.
The German biathletes clearly missed out on a podium finish in the first individual race of the season. Problems on the shooting range in Finland dashed all hopes of a good placing with Norwegian Endre Strömsheim’s victory.
As the best athlete in the German Ski Association, Philipp Nawrath took 22nd place in Kontiolahti. Only he and Danilo Riethmüller (3 mistakes) in 30th place made it into the top 30 from a German perspective. Nawrath was 2:49.2 minutes behind the perfectly shooting Strömsheim after 15 kilometers and also three mistakes. A shooting error was punished with an addition of 45 seconds to the total time.
Philipp Horn (3/32nd), Johannes Kühn (5/54th) and David Zobel (4/60th) as well as the otherwise safe shooter Justus Strelow (6/81st) landed even further back.
The dominance of the Norwegians continues. The Scandinavians had already taken the top five places in the overall World Cup in the previous season. In Finland, Johannes Thingnes Bö (1) and Sturla Holm Laegreid (0) completed the podium.
