AF Biars Bretenoux, which needs points, wants to achieve its first success of the season at home this Saturday against Revel.
The points operation, started last weekend in Fonsorbes, continues this weekend with the reception of Revel this Saturday in Biars, on the occasion of the penultimate match before the truce of the AFBB (the Biarnais will play on December 21 in a late match in Montauban).
Faced with a Revel team ranked in the middle of the table in the Pool B standings (with 11 points in nine matches), the team coached by Patrick Gauthier wants to move up a gear. “Since the start of the season, we have said a lot of things to each other but now it is time to act,” explains the Biarnais coach. We’ve talked enough, let’s roll up our sleeves and get this first victory of the season at home. The truth today is that we need points and there is no more time to lose! “.
Last Sunday by going to Fonsorbes, the Biarnais team hoped to get their points counter running, which they managed to do by bringing back a one-goal draw. “A result which is both frustrating, because we had chances and in particular the ball from 2 to 1 (the AFBB saw its second penalty saved by the opposing goalkeeper) but it remains a point taken at the outside. Now for this last match of the year at home, we have one last push to give.”
For this final meeting at the Biars stadium in 2024, the AFBB will meet a Revel team ranked 8th with 11 points and a record of three wins, two draws and four defeats. After nine days, the Revel team has the second worst defense in the group but it has traveled to the field of three of the first four in the championship (Rodez 2, Tarbes and Muret). “It is an experienced team which has just beaten Union Saint-Jean 4 to 3, which, certainly, concedes goals, but which also scores a lot since it has the 5th best attack in the group,” notes Patrick Gauthier who, for this last meeting of the year in Biars, will have to rely on a modified group compared to last Sunday’s match. “Thomas Van de Put, injured, will be absent, and Dieme is still uncertain and there will also be some injury returns.”
Two stages before the winter break, the points operation is therefore more than ever launched for an AFBB team which in its quest for a first victory at home this season will also be able to count on the support of its public which will not be lacking not present for this last match of the year at home.
