Minnesota (dpa) – Former NFL superstar Randy Moss is battling cancer. The 47-year-old made his illness public in a video on Instagram. “I never thought I would be in such a situation, as healthy as I thought I was,” said Moss, who only left the hospital on Friday after an operation after a six-day stay: “Your boy is a Cancer survivor.”

The football Hall of Fame member now has to undergo chemotherapy and radiation. The former wide receiver was diagnosed with cancer between his pancreas and liver. The operation to remove the cancer took six hours, Moss said.

He temporarily resigned as an expert at ESPN on December 6th. “My goal is to get back on TV with my team,” said Moss, who slowly sat down with a support in the video and addressed his fans: “I really felt all the prayers, the good wishes , they felt my family.”

Moss was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018. He played for the Minnesota Vikings (1998-2004, 2010), Oakland Raiders (2005-06), New England Patriots (2007-10), Tennessee Titans (2010) and San Francisco 49ers (2012). With 23, he still holds the NFL record for most touchdowns in a season, and with 156 touchdown passes caught, he is second on the National Football League’s all-time leaderboard.
