Forty-seven municipalities, so far, have won a medal in the departmental competitions of Antioquia – Indeportesantioquia

47th Departmental Sports Games “Indeportees of Antioquia” – 2024, departmental final. To date, 47 municipalities have won a medal in the departmental competitions. The Medellín delegation remains very strong in first place in the competitions. Envigado and Itagüí support the leaders. Medellín, Apartadó, Envigado, Caldas, Itagüí and Rionegro lead the tournaments that will end this Thursday. Men’s basketball and volleyball, indoor soccer and rugby in both branches, will deliver semifinalists this December 12. In three days they will be finishing the “Olympics” of Antioch.

The ninth day of the Departmental Sports Games “Indeportes Antioquia” 2024, held on Wednesday, December 11 in Andes and Jardín, left new departmental champions and confirmed the dominance of Medellín in several disciplines.

In chess, the Medellin delegation took home two gold medals, while in badminton they won seven gold medals. In road cycling, Medellín won gold, surpassing Jardín, Guarne and Yarumal in silver and bronze, and in karate-do it reached five, as well as in skating, where it climbed to the podium with three gold medals.

Apartadó, for his part, continues to shine in adapted athletics, accumulating seven golds, and in weightlifting he reached 43 gold medals, doubling Turbo, who occupies second place with 21.

Envigado stood out in BMX, winning two golds and two silvers, surpassing Bello, who added two golds and one silver. He also stood out in conventional swimming, where he accumulated six gold medals, while, in mountain biking, Caldas was the best by winning two gold medals and a silver.

In Olympic wrestling, Itagüí maintained its lead with nine golds, and in table tennis, Rionegro managed to stand out with one gold, two silvers and three bronzes.

On the other hand, team sports continued their competitive development, bringing excitement and close matches to the day.

This Thursday will be key to delivering the latest champions in disciplines such as boxing, karate-do, weightlifting and mountain biking in Andes, while in Jardín the badminton and Olympic wrestling competitions will close.

According to the report from the Deportesant platform, with cut-off at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, December 11, Medellín leads the general medal table with 115 gold, 89 silver and 68 bronze. Apartadó remains in second place with 74 gold, 44 silver and 82 bronze, while Itagüí is third with 45 gold, 43 silver and 50 bronze.
