Zhang Yiman (27), the Chinese women’s national badminton player who lost to Korea’s Ahn Se-young (22, Samsung Life Insurance) last month, announced her retirement from the national team. His final opponent on the international stage will be Ahn Se-young.

On the 18th, Jang Yi-man announced his retirement from the national team through his social media. He said, “Time passes and time does not stop. There are always new faces of the younger generation struggling here with passion for their dreams. There are always people who want to leave. I understand leaving. “This is not the end, but a new beginning,” he said, announcing his retirement from the national team.

Zhang Yiman said, “I hope that the Chinese badminton team and women’s singles team will get better and better in the future. “I hope the Five Stars and Red flags fly in every game,” he added.

Zhang Yiman played for the Chinese national team for nearly 10 years after being selected as a member of the national team in January 2015. She won the 2019 Vietnam Open women’s singles title, placed 3rd in the 2021 World Championships women’s singles title, and won the 2023 Thailand Masters women’s singles title.

His last appearance on the national team was playing in the China Masters last month. Jang Yi-man, ranked 24th in the world, was defeated by Ahn Se-young 0-2 in 38 minutes in the quarterfinals and failed to advance to the semifinals.

China’s He Bingjiao, who lost to Ahn Se-young in the finals of the Paris Olympics, also announced his retirement from the national team after that match. Chinese veterans, including Ahn Se-young, who felt the growth of young blood on the world stage, retired one after another this season, feeling the weight of time. In the men’s national team, Zhao Junpeng and mixed doubles’ Zheng Shiwei announced their retirement.
