Julia Görges dared. The German ex-tennis ace married doubles specialist Wesley Koolhof in the Netherlands.

Arnhem – The former tennis professionals Julia Görges (36) and Wesley Koolhof (35) said yes to each other on Saturday (December 14th). The ceremony took place at the picturesque Landgoed Hotel Groot Warnsborn in Arnhem, Netherlands. They shared pictures from their special day on Instagram and commented on them with the words: “Mr & Mrs”.

Görges reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon

Görges, who stepped away from the spotlight after her tennis career ended, looked stunning in her elegant white dress with a long train and lace details. Her husband Koolhof, known for his doubles, wore a classic brown suit that perfectly matched the natural surroundings of the wedding venue.

The German tennis player, who ended her career in 2020, was one of the best in her country for years. She reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2018 and was able to claim a total of seven WTA titles. Her powerful serve, which often reached over 200 km/h, was her trademark. Since the end of her career, she has lived a withdrawn private life.

Kerber & Co. congratulate you on your wedding

Koolhof, on the other hand, only ended his career in November 2024. His last major success was winning the doubles at the Davis Cup finals in Malaga. There he defeated the Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal together with Botic van de Zandschulp, thus ending his career. With his doubles triumph at Wimbledon 2023 and a total of 21 titles, he can look back on an impressive career.

The announcement of their wedding on Instagram drew many congratulations from the tennis world. Boris Becker simply congratulated him with “Congratulations,” while Andrea Petkovic commented enthusiastically: “Jule, you look fantastic! Wesley too, of course.” Angelique Kerber, who now has a new job, and other former colleagues also joined the well-wishers.

Görges and Koolhof have been a couple since 2019 and live together in the Netherlands. The 36-year-old feels very comfortable there after retiring from the tennis circuit. (kk)
