After an hour and a half of the Assembly, Gimnasia members voted by majority for project 65 in the remodeling of the Bosque stadium.
With an hour and a half delay due to the number of members present, at the Víctor Nethol Sports Center on 4th Street, the announced Extraordinary Assembly was held, which for the tripero members was very special for the future of the Juan Carmelo Zerillo stadium.
The objective of the Assembly was precisely to select the winning proposal of the National Ideas Competition for the expansion and modernization of the stadium.
What is project 65 like?
Marcela Orcaje and Gonzalo Pérez are responsible for “OP Arquitectos”, the studio that gave shape to one of the three finalist projects in the competition for the renovation of Gimnasia’s “Juan Carmelo Zerillo” Stadium.
Weeks ago, when they explained their proposal in detail, they detailed that it includes a stadium with capacity for 55,244 spectators.
“It is a stadium designed from the ground up that, in stages, will reach that capacity,” said Gonzalo Pérez at the beginning of the talk. “The importance of our project has to do with two important decisions: one of them is related to the capacity. In the bases it was requested that it had to be between 40,000 and 50,000, so we had to assume that the stadium changed scale. And that defines the other decision, because Gimnasia puts into competition a number of activities that currently operate in the Sports Center. There are a lot of square meters. And all of that, which is a very large surface package, we define it in this. which we call the ‘landscape building’ with this fold”.
Along these lines, Macrela Orcaje added that “for us the issue of the Forest is very sensitive, we respect it a lot as a green lung, in fact we use it and it is a place we go to continually. Therefore, we did not want to steal more space from the forest. We wanted to give it back that green. So, when the new volume of the stadium appeared and that new piece that is added to the other sporting activities, we thought about putting it under that fold.”
Advancing in the explanation of the buildings attached to the stadium, the architect stressed that “of the three finalist projects, ours is the only one that is totally accessible, everything is at zero. What changes is that there is a raised green roof, rises from the ground from the corner of Av. 60 and Centenario, that’s why we call it a fold. Conceptually, it is like the ground folds and everything that surrounds the stadium appears below. It is like a green layer, a landscape building. The nice thing is that you can walk on top of that roof and have public space situations, it is a garden terrace with meeting places and for events.”
After starting the assembly, the members expressed their enormous dissatisfaction with the football present and the end of the season, which left the team in a worrying situation with respect to the coming seasons with the averages. With a loud whistle, the members present reflected their discomfort.
WHAT WILL THE VOTING METHOD BE LIKE?
According to what the document itself explains, during the Extraordinary Assembly this afternoon there will be two consecutive votes during the day, which will begin at 6 p.m., so that each member of the entity can raise their hand before one of the three projects that will be available for voting.
The one with the fewest votes will be rejected and then move on again to a voting instance in which those who attend the conclave can vote between the two remaining projects and define the winner according to which one obtains the greatest number of positive votes.
From the Board of Directors led by Mariano Cowen, the members who will attend this afternoon at the 4th Street Sports Center are informed that this Assembly will serve exclusively to select one of the three expansion and modernization projects for the Bosque stadium. And not for other topics related to professional football.
