Jay: Thanks for having me. Yeah, the idea of “Chad Powers” definitely resonates. Any athlete who’s ever had a setback, a dream deferred, understands that burning desire to prove yourself again.
Moderator: Absolutely. The show focuses on Russ Holliday, a former college quarterback whose NFL aspirations were derailed by a controversy. He reinvents himself as “Chad Powers” to get another shot on a struggling team. Do you think people will buy into the underdog story?
Jay: Look, people love a good comeback narrative. We saw it with kurt Warner, with Tom Brady – guys who defied the odds. So long as “Chad Powers” captures that genuine grit, that relentless determination, it’ll connect with viewers.
Moderator: Now, Glen Powell’s taking on both roles: the dejected Holliday and the ambitious “chad Powers.” What are your thoughts on the casting choice?
Jay: Glen Powell’s a talented actor. He’s proven himself in dramatic roles and in comedies. If he can nail the emotional depth of Holliday’s disappointment and then bring the charisma and humor to “Chad powers,” it might very well be a winning combination. It’s a big challenge, but I think he’s up for it.
Moderator: the series is co-created by Powell and Michael Waldron, who’s known for his work on “Loki” and “Rick and Morty.” What do you think those comic book roots bring to a sports story?
Jay: It could add an captivating layer. Comic books frequently enough explore themes of identity, redemption, and facing inner demons. Those are all relevant to a story about an athlete trying to rebuild their career. If they can inject some of that comic book sensibility without undermining the reality of the sports world, it might very well be really compelling.

Jay: The Mannings know football inside and out.Their understanding of the game, the personalities involved, the locker room dynamics – it’s invaluable. They also have a knack for connecting with fans in a genuine way. Having them behind the scenes adds a layer of authenticity and credibility that can’t be underestimated.
Moderator: Alright, Jay, before we wrap up, what’s your final verdict on “Chad Powers”?
Jay: I’m cautiously optimistic. The premise is intriguing, the cast is strong, and the creative team is top-notch. If they can strike the right balance between humor, heart, and authentic sports drama, “Chad Powers” could be a real touchdown.
