Chandigarh, November 30: The 51st All India Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Tournament 2024 concluded with a grand finale at the CGA Golf Range, Chandigarh. The event featured exciting matches across multiple categories, participation from distinguished guests and an extraordinary cultural performance that enthralled everyone.
The inaugural ceremony featured a mesmerizing flute performance by the famous flute sisters, Debopriya and Suchismita Chatterjee, disciples of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. He was joined by members of his talented team including tabla player Amit Mishra, rhythm expert Deepesh Verma, guitarist Rahul Dev and music arranger Amit Vilas Pandey.
The tournament featured exciting matches across various categories such as men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles and team championships for both men and women. The competition was very tough, with the players displaying exceptional skill and sportsmanship.

o Third place: Punit Biswas/Yashwant and Anthony Amalraj/Jubin Kumar
• Women’s doubles:
o Winner: Jennifer Varghese/Tanisha Kotecha (Maharashtra)
o Runner-up: Swastika Ghosh/Oishiki Jordre (AAI)
o Third place: Poymanti Baisya/Sutirtha Mukherjee and Prapti Sen/Kaushani Nath
• Mixed Doubles:
o Winner: Diya Chitale/Manush Shah (RBI)
Runners-up: Yashaswini Ghorpade/Harmeet Desai (PSPB)
o Third place: Akash Pal/Poyamanti Baisya and Ronit Bhanja/Sutirtha Mukherjee
• Team Championship:
o Men: RSPB beat PSPB (Aakash Pal/Jeet Chandra/Ronit Bhanja (RSPB) & Manav Thakkar/Harmeet Desai/G). Sathiyan (PSPB)
o Women: PSPB beat RSPB (Yashaswini Ghorpade/Reeth Rishya/Sayali Wani (PSPB) & Anusha Kutumbale/Sutiertha Mukherjee/Moumita Dutta (RSPB))
prize money:
* The men’s singles and women’s singles winners received ₹1,12,000, the runners-up received ₹56,000, each semi-finalist received ₹28,000 and each quarter-finalist received ₹14,000. The losers of the pre-quarterfinals, which included eight players, received ₹7,000 each as prize money.
* Prize money given to the winning pair of ₹32,000, ₹18,000 to the runner-up and ₹9,000 to each semi-finalist pair in the categories of men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
* The winners of the Team Championship were awarded a prize fund of ₹2 lakh, the largest prize ever awarded in any institutional championship. The runner-up teams were given ₹1 lakh and the bronze medal winners were given ₹50,000.
The closing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Shri T. Ravi Shankar, Deputy Governor, RBI, Vandana Khare, CGM, RBI, Punit Pancholi, CGM, RBI, Vivek Srivastava, Regional Director, RBI; CGM of NABARD, former Mayor of Chandigarh and President of Chandigarh Table Tennis Association Anup Gupta, senior police officers and other respected officials were present.
RBI Chandigarh expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, organizers and supporters who contributed to the success of this year’s tournament. The event was a true celebration of table tennis talent and sportsmanship.
