“the Matchbox is Croatia’s premier indoor soccer tournament,” Begović enthuses. “It’s where I truly shine,competing against the best in the country. I’ve been fortunate to play with Naturavit for years, and our sponsor, Denis Nemčević, has been an amazing supporter. Our most memorable achievement was reaching the quarterfinals in 2022, where we were ultimately defeated by Kamgrad, who went on to become finalists.”
Begović’s current team, Naturavit, boasts a remarkable history of success. For over a decade, this core group of players has dominated the futsal scene in northwestern Croatia, securing over 30 championship titles. Their dominance culminated in an undefeated victory in Koprivnica last winter, a testament to their exceptional skill and teamwork.
“This team has been together for over 10 years, with a few minor adjustments along the way,” Begović explains. “We’ve achieved incredible things together, including winning Koprivnica last winter without conceding a single goal. it’s a remarkable accomplishment.”
The team’s recent addition of Radinković,nicknamed “Struj,” has further strengthened their lineup. begović praises his new teammate’s exceptional abilities, highlighting the team’s continued potential for success.

Let’s dive right in. At 38, you’re still dominating the futsal scene. What keeps you going? What fuels that passion that’s so evident in your every move?
Bega: You know, it’s a combination of things. First and foremost,it’s the love of the game. Futsal is more than just a sport; it’s a way of life for me. The thrill of the competition,the camaraderie with my teammates,and the joy of pushing my limits – these are what keep me going.
Secondly, I’m incredibly blessed to be part of Naturavit. We’ve been together for over a decade, like a family. we’ve achieved some amazing things together, and that shared history, those memories, it’s something truly special.
you mentioned Naturavit’s incredible history. Over 30 championship titles in northwestern Croatia is an astounding achievement. What’s the secret to your team’s success? What makes Naturavit tick?
Bega: it all comes down to three things: teamwork, dedication, and a bit of luck. We trust each other implicitly on the court, and we’re always willing to put in the extra effort to improve. We train hard, play hard, and we never give up. Plus,we’ve had some amazing sponsors along the way,like Denis Nemčević,who has always believed in us.
Speaking of sponsors and the futsal landscape, you’re no stranger to high-stakes tournaments. You’ve often mentioned the Matchbox tournament as a personal favorite. What makes it so special for you?
Bega: Matchbox is the pinnacle of indoor soccer in Croatia. It’s where the best of the best come to compete, and the atmosphere is electric. I’ve always loved the challenge, testing myself against the top players in the country. Reaching the quarterfinals in 2022 with Naturavit was a real highlight, even though we were ultimately defeated by Kamgrad, who went on to become finalists. It was a tough game, but we gave it our all.
It’s inspiring to see your commitment to the sport, especially your dedication to both futsal and indoor soccer. You’ve mentioned the relentless schedule, the constant travel and training. How do you stay motivated and avoid burnout?
bega: It’s definitely a demanding lifestyle, there’s no doubt whatsoever about it. But it’s all about finding that balance. when I’m not on the court, I prioritize rest and recovery, spending time with my family and friends, and recharging my batteries.
We’ve spoken about your veterans’ experience,but what about the future of futsal in Croatia? Do you see the sport growing in popularity?
Bega: Absolutely. Futsal is experiencing a real surge in popularity here in Croatia. More and more young players are taking up the sport, and the standard of play is only getting higher.
How do you see your role in this growth? Will you stay involved in the sport after you retire?
Bega: I definitely plan to stay connected to futsal even after I hang up my boots. I’d love to mentor younger players, share my experience, and help them develop their skills. Futsal has given me so much, and I want to give something back.
