The vibrant town of Bordils in Girona hosted the opening matches of the International Helvetia Bordils 2024 handball tournament this past weekend. This exciting holiday event drew approximately 300 athletes and over a thousand spectators, transforming the town into a hub of sporting enthusiasm.
Saturday’s highlight was the participation of international teams,including the Stuttgart Handball Club,TSV Kronshagen,and Handball Club Rivesaltes from Northern Catalonia.In a nail-biting final, the local heroes, Handbol Bordils, emerged victorious, defeating FC Barcelona B with a score of 35-30.
Sunday saw the spotlight shift too the younger generation, with the alevín category taking center stage. Bordils Blanc fought valiantly to reach the finals but ultimately fell to the formidable BM Granollers. The Vallès-based team secured victory by winning three out of the four quarters,denying Bordils a double win across both categories.
The tournament was a resounding success, with players and families alike reveling in the spirit of handball throughout the weekend. Bordils is gearing up to host the International helvetia Bordils 2024 once again, this time welcoming cadet and junior teams from December 27th to 29th.
