Festive Fun and Fierce Competition at Hengelo Badminton Club’s Christmas Tournament
Hengelo, December 17 – Teh Hengelose Badminton club transformed into a winter wonderland on Tuesday, December 17th, hosting thier annual Wolhalla Christmas Socks Tournament. Participants embraced the holiday spirit, sporting an array of eye-catching and often humorous Christmas socks, many accessorized with festive hats and sweaters. A special prize was awarded for the most creatively adorned individual, adding an extra layer of merriment to the event.
The badminton court was ablaze with competitive energy as players battled it out for victory. Fast-paced doubles and mixed matches,each lasting eight minutes,kept the adrenaline pumping. To ensure everyone had a fair shot at winning, a unique scoring system was implemented.The loser of each match rolled two dice, while the winner rolled one, adding the result to their game score. This exciting twist culminated in Ria Onstenk emerging as the tournament champion. Marjolein Seesing, meanwhile, charmed the crowd with her festive attire, earning her the coveted originality prize.
The post-tournament festivities continued long into the evening in the cozy atmosphere of Sporthal de Kamp’s canteen, where players and spectators alike enjoyed each other’s company.
