Herry IP: A global Coaching Prospect
Renowned indonesian badminton coach herry Iman Pierngadi, affectionately known as “Naga Api,” is facing a crossroads in his career. After his exclusion from the PBSI national training center roster for the upcoming year, Herry IP has become a sought-after commodity in the international badminton scene.
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has openly expressed interest in securing Herry IP’s services following the resignation of their former doubles coach,Tan Bin Shen, after the 2025 Malaysia Open. While initial discussions have taken place, a definitive agreement has yet to be reached.Adding fuel to the fire, rumors are swirling that the Chinese Badminton Association (CBA) is also vying for Herry IP’s expertise. Reports from Chinese media outlet Aiyuke suggest that CBA is prepared to offer a staggering salary, three times higher than his current earnings in Indonesia. This lucrative proposition highlights the high regard for Herry IP’s coaching prowess on the global stage.
Interestingly, whispers of a potential CBA-Herry IP partnership have been circulating as last year’s China Open, where the CBA chairman, Zhang Jun, was reportedly seen sharing a meal with the Indonesian coach. While Herry IP remained tight-lipped about the encounter at the time, citing his commitment to his existing contract with PBSI, he did not rule out the possibility of coaching abroad once his obligations in indonesia conclude.
Herry IP’s extraordinary track record, including his instrumental role in nurturing the legendary doubles pairing of kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, has undoubtedly made him a highly desirable asset for badminton associations worldwide. As his contract with PBSI nears its end,the world watches with anticipation to see where this coaching maestro will land next.
A Dragon Takes Flight? Examining Herry IP’s Future in Badminton
Welcome back, badminton fanatics, to another exciting episode of “Courtside Chat”! Today, we have a real treat for you – joining us is none other than the legendary doubles player and former world champion, Tan Boon Heong. Now, Boon Heong, you’ve seen your fair share of coaching talent over your illustrious career.
what are your thoughts on the current buzz surrounding Herry IP, this sought-after Indonesian coach who’s suddenly become the talk of the badminton world?
Tan Boon Heong: (chuckles) well, it’s no surprise Herry IP is attracting attention. He’s a fantastic coach, there’s no denying that. Look at what he’s done with Kevin and Marcus – turning them into the world-dominating pair they are today. That’s truly remarkable coaching. And his exclusion from the PBSI program? It’s their loss, I believe.
Moderator: You mentioned Kevin and Marcus. Their partnership is legendary, but their recent dip in form coincided with Herry IP’s departure from the national training center. Do you think there’s a link there?
TBH: Hmmm, hard to say for sure. Every player goes through ups and downs, right? maybe it’s just a natural phase in their careers. But losing a coach of Herry’s caliber is never easy.
moderator: Absolutely. Both the BAM and CBA seem eager to secure his services. The CBA are even rumored to be offering a salary three times what he currently earns! How do you think this kind of financial incentive impacts a coach’s decision?
TBH: Let’s be real – money talks. But I think passion and possibility are just as critically important for a good coach. Herry IP seems like a dedicated individual, focused on developing players.
If the CBA can provide him the platform to work with a talented roster and push badminton further, I wouldn’t blame him for making that move.
Moderator: Interesting point, Boon Heong. Some argue that coaches should prioritize national pride over purely personal gain. Could Herry IP’s decision to possibly join the CBA be seen as a betrayal to Indonesia?
TBH: (pauses thoughtfully) That’s a complex question. National pride is important, but so is a coach’s individual career growth. Herry’s done incredible things for Indonesia, but maybe he feels he’s reached a point where a new challenge is needed. I wouldn’t call it betrayal, more like a natural progression.
