Hidalgo Sport. Lauro Campos.- Hidalgo had an outstanding participation in the 2024 Taekwondo Grand Slam, an exclusive event of the Mexican Taekwondo Federation (FMTKD) that brought together the 10 best exponents of each division.
The Hidalgo delegation, made up of 15 athletes, won a total of 13 medals, standing out for its effectiveness in the competition with an impressive 86.67 percent performance.
The event was held in Puebla and a harvest of six golds, three silvers and four bronzes was obtained. The most brilliant part of the performance was led by Uriel Gómeztagle Ballesteros, who was crowned champion in the -74 kilogram category, securing his place in the Mexican team for the Senior World Cup to be held next year.
In the Senior category, Mariana Rodríguez also won gold in the -62 kilograms, while in the Youth category, Demy Orta won the title in the -42 kg division. In addition, international Juan José Fernández added one more championship to his career in the form category.
In the Kyorugi modality, Eurídice Luna and Reynaldo Pérez from Hidalgo became national champions in the Master category, standing out in a high-level event.
On the other hand, the silver medals were obtained by Orel Ibarra, who reached the podium in the Youth, in the -59 kg category, and by Iztaccihuatl Romero and Óscar Flores, both in the Master category.
Finally, the bronze medals were won by Paulo César in the -63 kg Senior category, as well as by Valeria Rodríguez and Rodrigo Calderón, who obtained third place in the -50 kg and -54 kg Children’s categories, respectively. Gabriela Solís completed the harvest of medals, obtaining bronze in the forms category.
With this outstanding performance, Hidalgo continues to demonstrate its quality in national Taekwondo, consolidating itself as one of the strongest entities in this sport at the national level.
