Moss, who walked with the help of a cane, said doctors recently discovered a cancerous mass in his intestinal tract, just between his pancreas and liver, after he noticed discoloration in his urine.
The one who angered opposing defenses between 1998 and 2012 will have to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments in the near future.
Moss played for the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers.
In 218 career NFL games, he caught 982 passes for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns.
