Mfiondu Kabengele gave an interview to the Greek portal sportal.gr: having played for AEK Athens at the beginning of his European career, the center left good memories in the Greek capital. Venice, the EuroLeague and the NBA among the topics where his position has been asked at the moment.
From 1 to 10, how happy are you in Venice?
“Very happy. I would definitely say 10, very happy. I play good basketball. I like my teammates, I like the city of Venice, it’s calm. I’m really enjoying the EuroCup, where I’m in my first year playing a full season, competing, trying to get to the playoffs. So I’m very happy.”
Do you think you have all the tools to play in the EuroLeague one day?
“That remains to be seen. I mean, I don’t know. If I am, then only time will tell, and if I’m not, time will tell. So I think I’m working hard, I’m a good teammate. So, If teams appreciate it at the EuroLeague level, I’m sure they’ll find me and I’ll wait.”
Is the NBA on your mind or is a chapter closed for you?
“If I’m good enough that teams are interested in me, they’ll contact my agent and we’ll go from there. And if that’s not the case, then I’m grateful for the time I spent there. I had an explosive transition, I didn’t regrets. He played with great players, great teams. And if they are interested, I will appreciate it very much. But my goal is to be the best the best basketball player. So my goal is to give it my all and the team that will appreciate it the most, that’s probably where I’ll be. So if this is going to be the NBA, this is going to be the NBA. If it’s not, then it’s not going to be.”
Kabengele also responded to transfer rumors linking him to EuroLeague teams and took stock of his goals with Venezia.
“How do I not get distracted by the rumors? It’s easy. I mean, I don’t have Instagram or Twitter. So I don’t really see it unless someone texts me like a link, which maybe a friend of mine back home might do. in Canada or America. Let’s say they don’t know, they’re just curious and they ask. So I don’t think about it that much. I mean, it is what it is, rumors goal, finish the year strong. So every entry I can’t control it. The goals? Winning the Italian Cup in February and the EuroCup is always to win.”
